Tony Reid and Crystal Ching are both Bay Area transplants. Tony grew up in the Bay Area and attended Cal before moving to the Lake Tahoe area for a 25-year finance career in the ski and lumber businesses. His dad still lives in the same house in Alameda that he grew up in, and they visit at least once a month. Crystal grew up in Hawaii and went to school at the University of the Pacific before relocating to the Bay Area after graduation. Although they currently live in the greater Sacramento area, between the two of them, they’ve lived in various parts of the Bay Area cumulatively for almost 50 years.
They were living in Truckee when they were first introduced to Nature’s Select. Their dogs Sam and Baxter loved the food and they loved the free home delivery. They soon discovered that there were no distributors in the greater Sacramento area. So, in June 2009 they started Nature’s Select of Sacramento. They felt that this was an opportunity not to be missed. Like themselves, more and more people are becoming increasingly aware of the value of quality pet food. Add to that their love of animals and a business model which takes at least one, and often two steps out of the normal premium pet food distribution model which allows Nature’s Select distributors to offer a super premium, all-natural, holistic product at very competitive prices with free home delivery. It was, as they say, “a no-brainer”!
In 2011, their first official taste-tester Sam passed away and they welcomed in a new bouncy baby golden retriever puppy named Hunter.
